I mentioned a while back about checking out the local roller derby team in my town... well since then I've gotten to know a few of the great ladies and I hinted at how I'd love to work with them... and we ended up working something out. Well here's the first draft for a logo I did for the newest team in the league, The Murder Dolls". It's exciting to do work with people who are more true to your personal tastes. I'm sure we'll be making changes but so far I'm pretty stoked with where it's going.

And here's a little peak into the work process. (I'm TERRIBLE at drawing stars by hand. I always have to fix it in Illustrator haha.) I usually start with a hand drawn sketch in pencil that gets scanned and traced in Adobe Illustrator. The sketch for me is always a rough draft. I always end up making tons of changes once it's on the computer because my usual drawing style is very grungy and unclean lines. When I know I'm drawing something that will be transferred to a computer I try to keep it as clean as possible. (On an unrelated note, I adore my blue desk lol)

Hope you enjoyed a peak in to my work process/life.

Well it's been a busy few weeks for me..... hence the lack of blogging. With finals going on and two clients I've been working non stop with I've been going going and going. The first client,  I did a poster for the cool gals at Madames of Massacre for their upcoming fundraiser after meeting them at their bout in April. They are super cool ladies and I think this event is for such a great cause! The other I'll probably post sometime later.

The theme that they are going with for the fundraiser is Super Heroes vs. Villains. I thought it would be cool to make it look like a page from a comic book. I ended up hand drawing a few girls and then finishing it up in Illustrator. We were pretty crunched for time  so I had to pull it together in just 2 days but it ended up pretty cool. I wish I could've spent a little more time on the city in the background but in the end I'd probably still never be satisfied lol. What do ya think?

well I am out for now... lots more homework to do and some more shop stuff to get done!

Saturday was the first time I've ever been to a roller derby match, I must say I'm on a bit of a high still. It was pretty awesome... even my boyfriend who was reluctant to go had a blast. However I'm disappointed that he doesn't want me to join a team haha.

It was cool, these chicks were tough, confident and didn't give a damn what anyone thought about them. They threw elbows and at a few points in the match wound up sprawled out on the floor with no shame in their tiny shorts and fishnets. I figured this would be a good opportunity for me to take some cool pictures.... let's just say I learned a lot that night. haha.  I can't wait to go to another match.

tata for now
