I felt inspired this year to throw some retro Christmas spunk into my holiday decorating! We typically are pretty tame and typical with our decorations so I'm stoked to do something a bit different. For me it's mostly all about color. My parent's Christmas tree features a lot of ornaments that my Grandmother passed down from my Dad's childhood! It's complete with a retro Life Saver garland and kitschy elves. Maybe one day they'll be passed down to me. A retro lover can dream right?

Last week was a whirlwind of sickness, photo shoots, thanksgiving shindigs and unfortunately a death in the family. Sadly we lost my Grandmother on my mom's side. :( I don't want to get into that too much but needless to say I'm so happy she's no longer in pain and is with my Grandpa again. Death is never easy.
We had lots of yummy food for Thanksgiving and then the kiddo and I both came down with a strange fever/sore throat/rash combination. Luckily it went away after 2 days but we were miserable. So much for time off aye? I was well enough to make it Friendsgiving this weekend though and it was a blast! I wish I had taken tons of pictures to share but sometimes you just enjoy yourself too much to take pictures.
With the madness mostly over, I'm on a mission to get my house into the Christmas spirit finally. I'm excited to pull out all of my decorations tonight and decorate with the family. I'm thinking about jumping on the Elf On A Shelf bandwagon late this year. Do you have any traditions or things you look forward to this time of year? The thing I'm looking MOST toward is my 3 weeks off that I get each Christmas! Yes, be jealous. We close down the office for almost a month. And it is glorious. I have several movie lists in the making in preparation for that. haha!
One thing I'm really stoked about doing this year is Christmas mini photo sessions at my shop! We have the perfect place on our back patio to do these! We'll have 5-10 different back drops and "scenes" set up for you to choose from. I've had way too much planning these out! So if you are local and in need of some beautiful family or Christmas photos reserve a spot! We will be shooting every weekend in November through December 14th!
The price is $75 for one hour which is a steal compared to most deals going on. This price includes digital edited copies of your photos to do with as you please! You WILL have the option to print them though us though!

Another reason why I love fall and Halloween is the movies! (Also tomorrow is my birthday!!) Growing up as a kid I watched all the horror movies! I used to really like gory, scary movies... now that I'm a little older not so much... they actually really creep me out now... BUT, there are a few that I still really like, mostly corny ones. I have a soft spot in my heart for corny horror movies like Army of Darkness, Evil Dead series and The Frighteners. What will you be watching this Halloween.
Here's my list:
Beetleejuice
Hocus Pocus
The Adams Family
Monster House
Casper
Tales From The Crypt
Land Of The Dead
The Frighteners
The Adams Family
The Evil Dead Movies
& Army of Darkness
Goosebumps
Interview With A Vampire
Ghostbusters
Darkness Falls
and my all time favorite zombie movie: 28 days later
