One of the things that gets me really excited is being into a TV show. Seriously, that night of the week that Mad Men, Game of Thrones or American Horror Story air is the high light of my week lol. I plan my schedule around these shows. Call me lazy, but a good TV show or movie is the only way that I can really chill out. With the down time I have coming up I plan on fully appreciating my TV. So here is my winter watch list.

1. The Walking Dead - I have some serious catching up to do with this one.

2. The Santa Clause - This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I'm excited to share this one with Conrad.

3. Elf - Of course this is a much watch. This is probably my favorite holiday movie of all time. It's an added bonus that Zooey Deschanel is in this one.

4. Mad Men - I've been in the mood to revisit the previous seasons since the final season is upon me *tear* But seriously, the fashion on that show is enough of a reason to watch!

5.  Lord of The Rings/Hobbit Movie Marathon - One of my favorite new traditions is that every winter break we devote a full day or two to watching every Lord of The Rings movie. And this year we can include the Hobbit movies in this. Put on a pot roast or pot of soup and you have a fantastic day ahead of you. Perfect for those cold days where you don't want to leave the house.

6. Harry Potter Movie Marathon - We also binge on Harry Potter and junk food.  This usually includes a giant pillow/couch cushion pallet on the living room floor and pajamas and maybe no showers that day. lol

7. Gremlins - I guess this has always been a holiday movie in my book because it is set at Christmas time, but it's a classic. Conrad's at the age now where its not scary to him. Honestly, he thinks the special effects are cheesy so... lol

8. The Grinch - The movie and the original animated version! This is a Christmas movie that I thoroughly enjoy. Maybe more than my kid.

9. Edward Scissorhands - I feel like we always watched this show at Christmastime when I was a kid, even though it really doesn't come off as a Christmas movie at all to me haha. There is that beautiful scene where Winona Ryder dances in the snow "snow" from the ice sculpture though.

What's on your holiday movie watch list?

Last year's Halloween Movie List still is, to this day, one of the most pinned things from my blog. So I thought it'd be a good idea to post this year's spooky movie list. Conrad is getting older and little braver every year so we've enjoyed introducing him to the kid friendly scary movies. Basically though, he watches Goosebumps by peaking around corner into the living room with the volume down very low lol!  He's become quite a vampire and werewolf fan, partially in thanks to my Twilight phase haha. I grew up watching Friday The 13th & the Halloween movies at the drive in! (WHAT WERE YOU THINKING MOM AND DAD?) But now, I don't watch anything too scary anyone more. It doesn't help that my boyfriend HATES anything scary. He once woke me up because he was watching Constantine and terrified. So, I thought this year we could focus on some of the cult classic horror movies and movies from my childhood.

So here's this years spooky movie list!

1. Ghostbusters! (1&2)
I feel a movie marathon night coming on with Ghostbusters. By no means is it terrifying, but its creepy and playful enough that our whole family can watch it without nightmares lol. Plus it has Bill Murray. Need I say more?

2. The Monster Squad
A cult classic and a true staple of my childhood, The Monster Squad was like the Sandlot of Halloween time. I absolutely loved this movie and am proud to say my son is a fan now too.

3. The Lost Boys
Another cult classic spooky movie that takes me back to my childhood. I loved the Lost Boys! I had such a crush on Michael! This one is still actually pretty scary to me lol

5. Creature From The Black Lagoon
I don't know what it is about this movie but Conrad is so fascinated by the creature! It was nearly his choice for a costume. I'm glad he decided to go with something different because I wasn't looking forward to trying to accomplish a "creature" costume last minute.

6. Earnest Scared Stupid
We watched a lot of Earnest movies when I was little so its naturally one of our yearly traditions to watch this one. I thought for the longest time that I could actually kill a troll by shooting milk at it. ha!

7. The Goonies
Hands down this is my favorite child hood movie of all time, not just Halloween! We watch this movie several times a year, but its perfect for Halloween too!

7. Are You Afraid Of The Dark?
Now, its not technically a movie, but this tv series was so creepy when I was little! Now its a bit corny, but we've been marathoning it on Youtube lately! Another great childhood memory to relive with my son.

8. Hocus Pocus
And last but not least of course, Hocus Pocus! This was on my list last year but it's a staple of Halloween. No kid's Halloween can be complete without this movie.

Are there any movies on your list for Halloween? Were there any movies you watched as a kid that were scary? I'd love to hear!

much love,
Kat

It was rainy just like today.. not the gray skies and thunder kind of rainy either. It was the sun shining and 3 rainbows in the sky kind of rainy day. That's the day that my best friend and I got married. It wasn't a bit thing as we were fresh out of high school with little money. We married in a house with a few family members present. It didn't start to rain until we were on our way to our hotel but there was a rainbow in every direction that you looked. It was very beautiful. Those kind of days are special and memorable. (My computer has since crashed so I dont have the actual photos I took of the rainbows.) I still love that sweet hairy man just as much if not more. I got the MOST beautiful card I have ever seen. I teared up as I read it. I love you Nate. =)

"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome. " - Steve Zissou

We'll be saving our real celebrating for after pay day, but we sort of celebrated the evening with dinner and one of our all time favorite movies "The Life Aquatic". Any Wes Anderson movie that I watch always inspires me and gives me that nostalgic feeling that I love. Most of them feature Bill Murray, my all time favorite actor, so what more could you want? If you've never seen his films its a must! It's too tough to pick a favorite because they're all equally wonderful and offer a rad soundtrack. One thing I love so much about "The Life Aquatic" is the David Bowie covers by Seu Jorge. My husband and I are big Bowie fans to begin with, so this was a plus.

Royal: "He saved my life, you know. Thirty years ago. I was knifed at a bazaar in Calcutta, and he carried me to the hospital on his back."
Ari: "Who stabbed you?"
Royal: "He did. There was a price on my head, and he was a hired assassin. Stuck me in the gut with a shiv. "

The Royal Tennenbaums was the very first Anderson film and saw and it immediately hooked me so I have a very soft spot in my heart for that movie. It's ridiculously witty like most Anderson films, but also a little bit tragic. There are many times in this movie where I just laughed and thought to myself "WTF?". Like when Gweneth Paltrow's character runs away from home and returns with half of her finger missing. Plus anything with Luke Wilson in it I'm apt to like. =) Might I add, Luke Wilson's beard is epic in this movie. I also want their house. It's so beautiful. One of my favorite parts:

"I love you both but I'm going to have to mace you in the face." -Jack
"I wonder if the three of us would've been friends in real life. Not as brothers, but as people." -Jack

The Darjeeling Limited turned out to be absolutely phenomenal for me. The three main characters Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, and Adrien Brody (three more of my favorite actors) are brothers on a "spiritual quest" in India after a period of not speaking after their father's death. I may be too quick to call this my favorite, but it's really impossible for it NOT to be my favorite.

With their particular film aesthetic, each film is visual eye candy. Not to mention he's from Texas. =) Yay! The color scheme of all the films are captivating and even the fonts used for the titles and credits are so well thought out and cohesive. His most recent film is The Fantastic Mr. Fox which did NOT disappoint. It had all the usual characters and a few more. I'll be watching it with my kiddo ALL the time I'm sure. I particularly love how they say "cuss" instead of the actual cuss word. That's some funny cuss. He also directed and wrote Rushmore and Bottle Rocket a little bit earlier on in his career and both are great as well! He has a new film in the production according to IMBD, called My Best Friend. I'll be patiently waiting until then.

I wish I could live in a Wes Anderson film. =)

If you have any info about other movies of his let me know! I would LOVE to see them.

EDIT:
i just wanted to add this real quick! A friend of mine did a wes anderson tribute video please check out this video and his youtube channel!
