ModCloth's huge final clearance event is one of few things in the retail world that I watch for. I'm quite conservative when it comes to splurging on clothing. This past weekend I had the pleasure of styling a shoot for the awesome guys at Beauty Shop in Fort Worth, Texas. If you are local to the area and want a unique place to get a cut or color, this is your place. It ain't yo momma's hair salon. (Though they'd do a great job on her!)

The decor was grunge meets glamour.  With glitter covered sidewalks and concrete floors to statues a bit reminiscent of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre house, I could've easily seen Lady Gaga herself getting a red carpet worthy do did up here.  Once I saw owner Anthony working his magic on the models, it was even easier to imagine.  Watching him work her hair was truly like watching an artist paint a masterpiece or Stravinsky play the piano.





Rachael (a lovely friend of mine) and Charity both worked their magic in hair and makeup and together we all worked at getting wardrobe right for the shoot from my shop. We wound up going with a few funky looks that really worked well with the amazing hair and makeup.  How great are those two dresses? I hadn't seen the black dress on a model until the shoot and I feel in love with the dress all over again. They'll be in my shop soon! The blue & red western shirts already are. Remember the days when you were young and it was time for back to school shopping? I definitely didn't have a wealthy upbringing so I learned to work hard for the things that I needed and wanted. I worked nearly full time at the local Dairy Queen and waiting tables at another restaurant most of high school as soon as I could drive.

Back to school shopping was always one of those times where I could reward myself for surviving the grease and late hours of the food industry all summer long. There's a long list of things to get for my son for back to school so we'll be busy doing that this week. Even though I'm not exactly going back to school in the same sense as before, I'm working towards my agree online, I still think that should allow for some sort of clothing upgrade haha. New PJs maybe? jk.


 

One thing I came across while back to school shopping was that you can now create your own Vans!! I was the girl in high school with the doodled on classic slip on Vans, so this spoke to me and I was so excited to share! I'm also particularly in love with those floral ones. Ugh, I'm such a sucker for a pair of Vans or Toms!

The best thing about fall is that all the new products come out and sales and specials along with them. I'm pretty thrifty so most items from Modcloth are out of my budget, but I always look forward to their end of season sales! I hope you enjoy shopping these great brands as much as I do!

Conrad made it to his first day of 1st grade great (aside from getting toothpaste all over his shirt and I not noticing until we are in the parking lot resulting in a last minute spit shine before getting out of the car lol!) and he was super excited because his best bud is in his class again this year. Here's to another great year!

 So... I've mentioned in the past that I play soccer or football, depending on where you're from. I probably haven't mentioned though how obsessed we actually are at my house. So of course now that it's FIFA World Cup time we are extra excited.  I'm not going for any team in particular ( even though I'm a die hard Spain fan) but I do have a little wager with my boyfriend that Germany will win. We'll see. So far, it's already been very unpredictable. If there's anything that I've learned about the world in the past, it's that ANYTHING can happen.

So when I came across these awesome team shirts and tanks from Forever 21 I was very stoked.  The actual jerseys are always so expensive, not to mention baggy and unflattering. These are a good alternative way to show your team spirit. Who are you rooting for?
