If you are a fan of our store but maybe vintage isn't your thing, you can now snag a Gypsy Beard tee! Help support us by purchasing and wearing one of our tees, hoodies or tank tops. Designed by yours truly, there are a ton of colors and styles to choose from, though I prefer the black or white ones.
What do you think? I'm super stoked about these! We will hopefully have these in store very soon if you are local, but for now check them out here on our Society 6 shop!

One thing I'm really stoked about doing this year is Christmas mini photo sessions at my shop! We have the perfect place on our back patio to do these! We'll have 5-10 different back drops and "scenes" set up for you to choose from. I've had way too much planning these out! So if you are local and in need of some beautiful family or Christmas photos reserve a spot! We will be shooting every weekend in November through December 14th!
The price is $75 for one hour which is a steal compared to most deals going on. This price includes digital edited copies of your photos to do with as you please! You WILL have the option to print them though us though!

Halloween & Birthday Happenings - Photo Booths, Food & Music
9:05 AMUnknownMy party turned out adorable. It was a blast and everything turned out really well. It was freezing cold on my birthday so I definitely think that kept a lot of people at home and kept the evening shorter than it would've otherwise been, but the band, October 5th, was FANTASTIC and the food was yummy. I made this recipe for some yummy Apple Pie Moonshine. I made the cute little heart shaped lights behind the band. I really got to see how wonderful our back patio space can be and the potential it has for future events and fun times.
Now I've gotta make it through Christmas! Luckily there's still a handful of weeks til that. lol
What did you dress up as for Halloween?

Fall at Gypsy Beard Studio: Jackets, Sweaters, Coats & Halloween Costumes
11:18 AMUnknownThat's it for today! I'm a busy bee today! Tons of things to make and do! Much love! Kat
I've got a lot of great posts coming soon, but things have been busy with the shop and school things and let's be honest, once the weather starts to cool down, I get in "snuggle up and binge watch New Girl mode". SO I've scrambling trying to get posts finished for next week. So sorry for the lack of posting. I am however stoked to share an upcoming project I will be working with some of my new lovely friends on.
I've thrown the idea of doing a photo shoot and making a look book with the clothes from my shop around for quite some time now (even when I was just selling on etsy). Now the idea is quickly becoming a reality! I've got some great, beautiful ladies who have volunteered to model and do hair and make up! Everyone loves pretty pictures and all of the girls I've had volunteer for this so far love dressing up and posing just as much as I do so it feels like a win win situation! I've had a lot of fun planning and pinning so far. Here's some of my inspiration for the shoot.
Obviously I'm leaning towards a dark, nature theme. I plan on using a lot of the old cameras and radios that I have but my mom's friend offered to let us use her old Model T in the photos too! We have a really cool old train station right down the road from the shop so I'm excited for what we can do! And it's the perfect time to do a photo shoot now that the weather is starting to cool off.
What do you think would be a good idea for something to do in a shoot, props, locations etc? I'd love to hear your suggestions.
Much love!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen several pictures that were posted this past weekend of outfits from our store. The idea is to let us dress you head to toe. I thought I'd re-share them on the blog since I received so much positive feedback. It's one thing to show a random item of clothing for sale, but I'm learning that to get the picture with vintage it's best to see a whole look put together. (I'm learning so many things these days, some more obvious than others!) Most, if not all of these items can be found online in the etsy shop! I will be adding the men's section this week though. I hope you enjoy a little peak at what we offer in store and on Etsy! Get free shipping on orders over $50 with code "freefifty50"

Vintage Hacks - A New Feature: How To Make Vintage Work For You
9:38 AMUnknownLast week I posted on Facebook and Instagram a very simple "4 Ways To Wear A Vintage Scarf" mini tutorial. I couldn't believe the amount of likes, comments, questions and shares I received! And thinking about all the wonderful and lovely people that I've been meeting in my shop and online, I've realized something. Just about everyone loves vintage clothing, accessories and home decor but half the time they think "I love that dress, but I just don't know where/how I'd wear that" or "I love that cute vintage hat but I don't know what I would wear it with."
This made me want to start a new feature on my blog and of course I got overly excited. All through high school and even today my friends would tell me "You can pull anything off" or that they love what I'm wearing but they could never pull it off themselves. My secret to pulling anything off? NOT CARING whether you can pull it off or not and embracing the fact that you love it. Also being selective and knowing what works with my body. So I'm here to tell you, just because it is something different or a bit out there, doesn't mean that it can't work for you.
I'll be sharing my tips and tricks for styling vintage pieces for YOU and making things you already love bring out the best in you. All cliches aside, you CAN rock vintage clothing and believe me, people will want to know where and how you got it. [insert your kind referral to my vintage boutique] I kid, I kid.
Now I'm not saying that you should run out and buy the most unflattering item of clothing or over sized Tiki man statue (think Honey We Shrunk Ourselves) and rock it. But know your body and let your gut speak to you.
Many people don't realize that there are tons of tweaks and simple adjustments to turn a vintage dress into a modern piece of every day wardrobe. You don't have to look like a 50's housewife or hippy to rock a vintage dress. They can be every day fashion for the office or just running around town.
This is an open call for questions. Please comment or email me at howdy(at)gypsybeard.com with your questions and I'll address them personally and on the blog. You can also Tweet me or comment on Instagram or Facebook and I will gladly answer.
Thanks for stopping by!

Here's a little round up of some Instagram photos from last weekend grand opening! It was such a blast! I met a lot of wonderful people and we just had a plain old good time! We had some yummy food and a fun Photo Booth area set up! You can check out more photos on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using hashtag #gypsybeardstudio . If you came last weekend or picked up some pretty vintage please share your photos with the hashtag to join in on the social media party!
Back to work now! =)

Congrats! You won a $25 gift card to shop online or in store! Check your email for details on your prize.
I have tons to show you from our grand opening shindig so brace yourself! It was a wonderful night full of wonderful people.
Happy Monday all!
Kat
In case you missed it, I'm opening a vintage shop + design studio! I've been making lots of progress thanks to my wonderful friends and family. We've revamped counters and mostly just been decorating and sifting through the "merchandise". I still have SOOO much to do but you can see from some of the photos the progress that we've made.
Thankfully I felt that the place was already "move in ready" so to speak. The small imperfections in the walls and flooring only added to the character that I loved so much about the building. I did a little touch up painting and swept and mopped and called it a day. The next major thing on my to do list is knocking out a garment rack and creating our shop sign!
The grand opening is in just over a week and I'm getting super nervous! ahhh!!
Thanks for stopping by! What do you think so far?
Kat
Dun Dun Dun! Here's the flyer for the grand opening of the shop! I've got a big shindig planned with music, food, shopping, door prizes and fun for the kiddos! It should be a blast and hopefully a big success! Come check it out if you are in the East Texas area!
I took these pictures the first day that I got the keys to the place. I'd never used my fisheye lens on my camera before but I wanted to try it out, so sorry for the blurry photos! I suppose we'll be crafting away and busy preparing! I'm so excited!! What are your plans for the weekend?! Happy Friday Guys! Kat

With just a handful of weeks to get the shop + studio whipped into shape, my work is cut out for me and my wonderful support system that have so graciously volunteered to help. My Pinterest boards are going full force and I've been over planning. Here's my dreamy inspiration for what it will hopefully be.
Shout out to my two wonderful sister-in-laws. (Even though I'm technically no longer with their brother they are the sisters I never had. I love them to pieces.) They have unknowingly inspired and given me that little extra push that I needed to follow this dream of mine. When I first started thinking I could make this work and received some not so encouraging advice from most, they gave me the pep talks and inspiration I needed. Every time that I am feeling a pinch of doubt I talk with them and I am reassured that I'm not crazy or making a terrible decision. Yay for dreamers and risk takers. lol
Once again, if you are interested in consigning your crafts or products you'd like to donate a product or money to the start up you can below or by contacting me at howdy(at)gypsybeard.com
Happy Hump Day!

You may or may not have been like me and too busy relaxing to post anything this past holiday weekend. :-) I definitely can't complain about that! Conrad participated in the parade Friday morning with his friend and had a blast. It was so cute to watch. Living a street over from the designated parade street however is NOT much fun. lol I guess I have that to look forward to every year.
Friday afternoon/evening we spent at Lake Tawakoni on the boat, hanging out, eat, fishing, swimming and going fireworks. Conrad had a blast. Me, well I would've rather been at home like the homebody that I am, but it was a nice change of pace and scenery. All was great except for when my dog decided to randomly jump from the boat into the lake. I wasn't sure how well she could swim, but she managed to tread water long enough for us to rescue her. It was scary. And then she decided to try and catch all of the fireworks in the air. Never again will she be included in 4th of July events. ><
The rest of the weekend we were absolutely lazy. I'm not going to lie. We watched a lot of movies & tv shows and did a lot of snacking haha. I did sift through and sort stuff in preparation for the store. It's getting closer and closer to move in day and I'm so excited and nervous. I'll be getting the keys this week! Eeeek!
I'm still looking for any of your crafty folks out there who are interested in consigning their crafts/products in my store! I'll be holding a grand opening event with door prizes and goodie bags so if you would like to include any of your products as a prize or in a goodie bag let me know. Not only does it help me out, it gains you some exposure and advertising! If you are interested in teaming up or even donating contact me. Also, I started a GoFundMe.com campaign for funding the start up of my store/studio. Even if it's only $1, it would mean the world to me and you'll receive a special custom thank you gift. =) Click here to donate!
Happy Monday all! We're off to a busy start!

I can finally share the exciting news now that the papers are signed and all that jazz! I'm opening a studio + shop!!!! *Insert my super happy dance* It's been a dream of mine for literally 10 + years to open a studio + shop. I plan to sell my vintage goodies in store as well as handmade items from local artists and crafty peoples. I'm very excited to not only be opening my dream shop, but also to be able to share it with the community. I already have plans for art shows and community events. So keep your eyes and ears open! Great things are to come. I will still be selling online AND keeping my "day" job so panic for me yet. haha. It's going to be tough and a lot of late nights hours to be put in but I'm beyond stoked and anxious and terrified.
Photos 1-5 : My soon to be studio + shop!! From the original tile floors and tin ceilings to the exposed brick walls, it is beyond what I could've ever dreamed of having. Bonus: it also has a large private back patio with a mini stage. I see many acoustic shows and get togethers happening here. So if you are crafty or an artists and interested in consigning your creations contact me! howdy(at)gypsybeard(dot)com !
Other than PLAN PLAN PLANNING and dreaming, we've been enjoying the summer while we can. From hanging at the park to going to Brand New concerts life has been full of fun these days. This picture that my mom took of my son in the pool is by far one of my favorites from summer so far. We've had lots of soccer, movie marathons and water gun fights. Conrad's new favorite activity however is catching fireflies. =) I was so excited to get this pretty rainbow picture a few weeks ago. I love photographing rainbows.
I have a fairly HUGE client right now that I will be in it for the haul with so I'm super excited and blessed to be working with them. They couldn't have come along at a better time in my career. Here's a peak of one of the many projects we currently have going on.
Well that's it for now! I better get back to work!
Happy Tuesday!
Kat
